What’s the Podcast about?
Comedy actor, Paul Whitehouse and I explore the experience of ADH‘D’ with diverse celebrity ADH‘D’ers, as well as ADH‘D’ specialists, researchers and psychotherapists.
Paul typifies the archetypal sceptic, challenging the very concept of ADH‘D’ – partly due to its unfit-for-purpose definition, the recent ‘explosion’ in diagnoses (particularly within the world of comedy) and, the fact that many symptoms present, to a lesser extent, in neurotypical individuals. I provide the theoretical backfill and counter-argument to Paul’s challenges.
This Podcast isn’t just a bit of fun (despite the many laughs we have along the way). I wholeheartedly believe that it plays a vital role in challenging long-held erroneous beliefs about ADH‘D’, while getting ADH‘D’ers and neurotypical folk alike impassioned enough to take a stance and challenge the current deficit model of ADH‘D’. On which note, you’ve probably noted that I insert apostrophes above the ‘D’ in ADH‘D’ – this is because I loathe the term, ‘disorder’. Why? Because we are different. NOT disordered!
So, join me, Dr Mine Conkbayir and Paul Whitehouse, as we chat all things ADH‘D’ with our diverse guests. Do be prepared, though – our conversations are as deep as they are outlandish! I’m talking on the level of UFOs – yes, you read that correctly!
